You know summer’s on the way out when Bottle & Cork closes its doors. The party comes to an end on September 18.
Rock and Roll All Night
Don’t let the fact that the Bottle & Cork has been around for more than 70 years keep you from carousing there – it’s got the best musical acts for miles around. It’s also got the stickiest floors, longest bathroom lines, most dangerous elbows, and fewest chairs.
A thirty-something crowd of summer beach house renters packs the bigger-than-it-looks indoor/outdoor venue for canned beers ($4), shooters and whatever’s in season, and the stage rocks with semi-famous and soon-to-be famous musicians. Dave Matthews, Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, Cyndi Lauper, Robert Palmer, Blondie, Ziggy Marley, Train, and Dwight Yoakam have played here (presumably before they ascended to the musical stratosphere).
The Saturday Jam Sessions are locally famous. And when you hear God Bless America wafting through the thinning crowd, you’ll know you’ve stayed too long.
Must be 21 to enter. (You don’t want the kids to see this.)
