Lightship OverfallsHow often do you get to celebrate a major success in your own backyard?  The successful end to a project on which hundreds have toiled for more than a decade?  And best of all, the party’s on a big boat!  (“Ship!” yell the exasperated men.)

Pardon the blatant stealing of information below from the Lightship Overfalls website – they know the story better than I do, and they should do the honors…

We’ve come a long way together and WE’VE MADE IT!

[The Lightship Overfalls] site tells the story of the eleven year project to save and preserve one of America’s maritime treasures. It’s a story of tens of thousands of volunteer hours of dirty work bringing one of the few remaining lightships back from the brink of ruin and all of the behind the scenes tasks that made it a reality. It’s a story of community support that maintained the momentum when any rational person would have thrown in the towel. And, it’s how this infectious community support spread farther afield making raising the $1.2 million necessary to complete the project possible.

Please join the party on September 10th to celebrate and thank the thousands who helped accomplish the goal to save the Lightship Overfalls and make her long-term preservation possible.

Overfalls FEST on the ship and grounds, 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Bring a dish to share, the Foundation will supply beer, wine and paper goods.
